RENO, Nev. — Utah State track & field earned 80.5 team points and five podium finishes while posting three performances that rank in the top-10 in school history on the third and final day of the 2026 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships in Reno, Nevada, on Saturday.

Senior Logan Hammer won his third-straight indoor pole vault title with a clearance of 5.50 meters (18-0.5). Hammer entered the competition at the 5.35 meters (17-6.5) bar with only Colorado State's Taylor Waters remaining in the competition, then proceeded to execute his first two jumps. Hammer won his sixth career MW gold medal and became the third MW men's pole vaulter to ever win three-straight gold medals.

Senior Marshall Rasmussen tied for the bronze medal, the third MW medal of his career, with his season-best jump of 5.15 meters (16-10.75). Senior Javin Richards, who jumped 5.20 meters (17-0.75) in the heptathlon pole vault on Friday, cleared the same height as Rasmussen but placed fifth on tiebreakers. The 19.5 points collected by Hammer, Rasmussen and Richards in the pole vault were the most earned in any single event by the Aggies.

Freshman Tayshaun Ogomo won silver in the men's 800 meters, finishing in 1:53.64. The native of Herriman, Utah, took the lead going into the final lap but was chased down by mile and 800-meter champion Matthew Endrody of New Mexico. Senior Ernest Green, who won silver at last year's MW indoor championships, took fifth in 1:54.11 and senior Samuel Green crossed the line with a seventh-place time of 1:56.25.

Sophomore Ayodele Ojo, Jr. claimed the silver medal in the men's 60 meters, finishing in 6.64. The MW record-holder improved on his seventh-place finish from last year's championships. Freshman David Konan took fifth place with a time of 6.69 that also boosted him from sixth to third in USU history. Grand Canyon's Justin Raines, who also won the 200-meter title, claimed gold with his time of 6.62.

Sophomore Taite Priestley won the third MW bronze medal of his career in the high jump, clearing 2.13 meters (6-11.75). He attained the mark on his third and final attempt, securing his place on the podium. Colorado State's Ndayiragije Shukurani won gold with a height of 2.16 meters (7-1).

Sophomore Shay Jones tied the Utah State record in the women's 400 meters with her time of 53.05. Jones improved on her prelim time, which ranked second in USU history, by 0.65 seconds and tied two-time Canadian Olympian and three-time All-American LaDonna Antoine-Watkins's standard set in 1994. Jones won the first heat and finished fourth in the field. New Mexico's Rebecca Grieve took gold with a time of 51.80.

Junior Claire Petersen and senior Krysthina Vlahovic placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the final of the women's 60-meter hurdles. Petersen, who finished in 8.52, and Vlahovic, with her time of 8.61, each earned their best career finishes at the MW Championships. The pair collected nine team points, the most in any event from the USU women. Colorado State's Neya Jamison won the title with her time of 8.26.

Senior Milly Garren had a clutch performance in her final MW Indoor Championships competition, placing fifth in the shot put with a mark of 14.90 meters (48-10.75). Garren sat in 10th place going into her last attempt of the prelims, but advanced to the final with her throw of 14.08 meters (46-2.5). The Logan native proceeded to post her best mark on her final throw, moving from seventh up to fifth. Colorado State's Makayla Long won the Rams' third-straight women's shot put title with a distance of 17.69 meters (58-0.5).

Junior Joseph Turner took sixth place in the men's competition with his throw of 16.82 meters (55-2.25). In contrast to his women's counterpart, Turner posted his best performance in his first attempt, which was enough to secure three team points. Air Force's Texas Tanner made it a clean sweep of the throwing events with his winning shot put of 19.18 meters (62-11.25).

In the men's triple jump, junior Sam Beckwith posted a mark of 13.76 meters (45-1.75) to take eighth place in the field for the second-straight year. Despite not having competed in the event all indoor season, Beckwith came a centimeter shy of his personal best. New Mexico's Cameron Miller leaped 15.38 meters (50-5.5) to win the gold.

Aggie women picked up a pair of eighth-place finishes in Saturday's distance finals. Junior Shelby Jensen crossed the line in the women's mile in 4:51.95. Junior Natalie Swain secured her second top-eight finish of the 2026 championships as she finished the 3,000 meters in 9:33.87. New Mexico claimed gold in both events, with Tilly Simpson winning the mile in 4:39.72 and Pamela Kosgei winning the 3,000 meters with a meet-record time of 8:58.58.

The women's relay squad of Petersen, sophomore Heidi Harper, graduate Annie Ivins and Jones took sixth place in the women's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:39.62. The quartet set a time that ranks second in USU history in the event, surpassing the 3:40.16 time set by the 2025 relay team that was also anchored by Jones. The men's quartet of freshman Caleb White, Ernest Green, Samuel Green and Ogomo took seventh place in the men's field with a time of 3:25.95. Ernest Green led the Aggie men with 14 points scored between individual events and relays, while Jones and Petersen tied for the women's team lead with eight apiece.

The Aggie men finished in fifth place with 80.5 points and the USU women took eighth place with 37.5 points. Colorado State won its third-straight men's title with 138 points and New Mexico claimed its second-straight women's title with 165 points, 81 clear of second-place Nevada.

Individuals ranking in the top-16 in the nation in their individual events will be invited to the 2026 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, from Friday-Saturday, March 13-14. Selected USU athletes will receive their invitations on Tuesday, March 3.
