UTAH STATE AGGIES (10-4, 6-2 MW)
AGGIES' 10 WINS SECOND-MOST IN SCHOOL HISTORY
• Utah State concluded the 2014 season with a 10-4 record, marking just the second time in school history that USU has won double-digit games and trailing only the 2012 team that finished with an 11-2 record.
• Utah State has won 35 of its last 47 games (.745) and those 35 wins are the third-most in the West behind Oregon (41) and Boise State (36).
• Utah State recorded its fourth-straight winning season this year, which is its longest since posting five-straight winning seasons from 1971-75.
• Utah State's senior class won a school-record 37 games, bettering the 2013 class that won a then-school record 31 games.
• Utah State received 11 votes in the final Associated Press poll to rank 32nd nationally and eight votes in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches' poll to rank 34th nationally. Overall, it is the third time in as many years that USU has finished the season ranked among the top teams in the nation as the 2012 team was 16th in the final AP poll, while the 2013 team received two votes in the final AP poll to rank tied for 37th nationally.
AGGIES WIN THIRD-STRAIGHT BOWL GAME
• With its 21-6 win against UTEP in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl, Utah State has now won three-straight bowl games for the first time in school history. In 2013, USU posted a 21-14 win against No. 24 Northern Illinois in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl and in 2012 it recorded a 41-15 win against Toledo in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
• Utah State played in its fourth-straight bowl game for the first time in school history and its 10th bowl game all-time this season with its appearance in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. Overall, USU is now 4-6 all-time in bowl game appearances. Utah State's other bowl win was in 1993 when it posted a 42-33 victory against Ball State in the Las Vegas Bowl II.
• Utah State is one of just four Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) programs to win at least 30 games and record three bowl victories in the past three years joining Clemson, Michigan State and Oregon.
WELLS' 19 WINS MOST BY ANY AGGIE COACH IN HIS FIRST TWO YEARS
Utah State head coach Matt Wells already ranks as the 11th winningest coach in school history with his 19 wins, while his 67.9 winning percentage (19-9) ranks second all-time in school history with a minimum of 15 games coached behind John Ralston (1959-62) who won 73.3 percent of his games (31-11-1). Furthermore, Wells' 19 wins is a school-record for a coach in his first two seasons, bettering the 15 wins Phil Krueger produced in 1973 and 1974.
UTAH STATE'S DEFENSE FINISHES THE SEASON NATIONALLY RANKED
Utah State's defense finished the 2014 season ranking among the top 30 defenses in the nation in 10 categories, including ranking first in the Mountain West and 12th in the nation in scoring defense at 19.7 points per game. USU also ranked first in the MW and fourth nationally in both sacks (3.57 pg) and tackles for loss (8.1 pg), second in the MW and eighth in the nation in passes intercepted (19), second in the MW and ninth in the nation in defensive touchdowns (5), second in the MW and 11th in the nation in turnovers forced (30), second in the MW and 17th nationally in passing efficiency defense (111.42), first in the MW and 24th in the nation in rushing defense (130.7 ypg), second in the MW and 25th in the nation in opponents third down conversion percentage (.358), and second in the MW and 30th nationally in total defense (356.1 ypg).
Zach Vigil SETS SCHOOL RECORD FOR CAREER TACKLES FOR LOSS
• Senior LB Zach Vigil finished his career with 43.5 tackles for loss, breaking the previous school record held by Jermaine Younger (1990-93) who had 43.0 career tackles for loss. Vigil also finished his career with 389 tackles to rank fifth all-time in school history.
• Vigil finished his senior season with 156 tackles, which ranks third all-time in Mountain West history and fourth all-time in school history. Vigil also had 20.5 tackles for loss this season tying the Mountain West single-season record set a year ago.
• Vigil finished the year ranked second in the Mountain West and seventh in the nation in tackles (11.1 pg), second in the MW and 13th in the nation in tackles for loss (1.46 pg), and tied for third in the MW and tied for 39th in the nation in sacks (0.64 pg).
A FINAL LOOK AT UTAH STATE
Utah State ended its 2014 season with a 10-4 record after posting a 21-6 win against UTEP in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. USU finished in third-place in the Mountain Division of the Mountain West with a 6-2 record. Offensively, USU was led by freshman QB Kent Myers who was 79-of-119 passing for 866 yards (123.7 ypg) with five touchdowns and three interceptions. Freshman RB LaJuan Hunt rushed for 540 yards on 111 carries (4.9 ypc) with one touchdown, and junior WR Hunter Sharp had 66 catches for 939 yards (14.2 ypr) with seven touchdowns. Defensively, senior LB Zach Vigil had a team-high 156 tackles, including 20.5 tackles for loss and 9.0 sacks, while sophomore LB Nick Vigil had 123 tackles, including 16.5 tackles for loss and 7.0 sacks. As a team, USU averaged 26.9 points and 378.8 yards of offense (198.7-passing, 180.1-rushing) and allowed 19.7 points and 356.1 yards of offense (225.4-passing, 130.7-rushing). All-time, USU has a 525-517-31 (.504) record in 117 seasons.
UTAH STATE BOWL HISTORY
Following its 21-6 win against UTEP in the 2014 Gildan New Mexico Bowl, Utah State now has a 4-6 bowl record all-time as it lost to San Jose State, 20-0, in the 1946 Raisin Bowl (Fresno, Calif.); lost to Pacific, 35-21, in the 1947 Grape Bowl (Lodi, Calif.); lost to New Mexico State, 20-13, in the 1960 Sun Bowl (El Paso, Texas); lost to Baylor, 24-9, in the 1961 Gotham Bowl (New York City); defeated Ball State, 42-33, in the 1993 Las Vegas Bowl II; lost to Cincinnati, 35-19, in the 1997 Humanitarian Bowl; lost to Ohio, 24-23, in the 2011 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl; defeated Toledo, 41-15, in the 2012 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, defeated No. 24 Northern Illinois, 21-14, in the 2013 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl; and defeated UTEP, 21-6, in the 2014 Gildan New Mexico Bowl.
Frankie Sutera ONLY AGGIE TO EVER PLAY IN FOUR BOWL GAMES
Of the eight current Utah State players who are four-year letterwinners, only senior SS Frankie Sutera played in his fourth-straight bowl game this year, which is a school record. Aggies who played in their third bowl game were senior P/K Jaron Bentrude, senior PK Nick Diaz, senior NG Elvis Kamana-Matagi, senior DE B.J. Larsen, senior CB Rashard Stewart, senior FS Brian Suite, senior LB Zach Vigil, senior OT Kevin Whimpey, junior SS Kelvin Lee, junior WR JoJo Natson, junior DE Jordan Nielsen and junior NG Travis Seefeldt.
UTAH STATE GOES UNDEFEATED AT HOME DURING 2014 SEASON
• Utah State went 6-0 at home this season tying the 2012 team for the most home wins in a single-season in school history. Overall, it is just the fifth time in the 47-year history of Romney Stadium that a USU team has gone undefeated at home joining the 1968 (4-0), 1972 (5-0), 1982 (4-0) and 2012 (6-0) teams.
• Utah State has won nine-straight home games, which is tied with the 1910-12, 1934-36 and 2012-13 teams for the fifth-longest home winning streak in school history. Overall, USU has won 18 of its last 20 home games, including seven straight Mountain West home games and 12 of its last 13 conference home games overall. Under head coach Matt Wells, USU is 10-2 at home, including a 7-1 league record. All-time, USU is 130-98 in Romney Stadium.
UTAH STATE HAS FIVE-GAME WINNING STREAK EACH OF LAST FOUR YEARS
Utah State has had at least a five-game winning streak in each of its last four season as the 2011, 2013 and 2014 teams all won five-straight games, while the 2012 team won its last seven games. The 1961 team holds the school record with nine-straight wins. Prior to its current run the last four seasons, USU's last five-game winning streak was in 1993.
AGGIES IN OVERTIME
With its 21-14 overtime loss at Arkansas State on Sept. 20, 2014, Utah State is now 6-5 all-time in overtime, including winning three of its last four. All-time, USU is 4-3 in single-overtime games, 2-1 in double-overtime games, and 0-1 in triple overtime games.
AGGIES ON THE ROAD IN CONFERENCE PLAY
Utah State is 13-2 in its last 15 conference road games and 7-7 on the road in all games under head coach Matt Wells, including a 6-2 Mountain West road record. Overall, USU is 24-3 in its last 27 league games including a 13-3 (.813) record in Mountain West play.
UTAH STATE VERSUS THE MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERENCE
Utah State is 140-165-8 (.460) all-time against current members of the Mountain West with a 37-24-4 record vs. Wyoming, a 32-37-2 record vs. Colorado State, a 15-7 record vs. UNLV, a 16-20-1 record vs. San José State, a 10-17-1 record vs. Fresno State, a 10-11 record vs. New Mexico, an 8-6 record vs. Hawai`i, a 5-17 record vs. Nevada, a 4-15 record vs. Boise State, a 2-1 record vs. Air Force, and a 1-10 record vs. San Diego State.
UTAH STATE RECORDS SECOND-BEST ATTENDANCE IN SCHOOL HISTORY
For the third-straight season, Utah State averaged over 20,000 fans, marking the first time in school history it has accomplished that feat. During the 2014 season, USU averaged 20,467 fans (122,803) to rank second all-time in school history behind the 2013 season that saw an average of 23,263 fans (139,576).
AGGIES USUALLY WIN WITH 100-YARD RUSHER
With 124 rushing yards from junior WR JoJo Natson against San José State (11/21), Utah State has now won 17 straight games when it has a 100-yard rusher, with its last loss coming against Ohio (24-23) in the 2011 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. USU has also won 19 of its last 20 contests when rushing at least 40 times in a game, including its 21-6 win against UTEP (12/20) as USU rushed the ball 40 times for 279 yards.
AGGIES RUN THE BALL WELL DURING ITS LAST SIX GAMES
Utah State rushed for at least 200 yards in five of its last six games and averaged 235.7 rushing yards in its last six outings as it rushed for 279 yards in its season finale against UTEP, which are its second-most rushing yards in a game this season.
AGGIES RUSH FOR OVER 2,000 YARDS AGAIN
Utah State did not have a 1,000 yard rusher for the first time since the 2010 season. However, USU's 2,521 rushing yards this season is 28 yards more than last year's team total of 2,493 rushing yards. In fact, this season marks the sixth-straight year that Utah State has rushed for at least 2,000 yards, which is a school record. Prior to its current run, the best stretch of 2,000 yard rushing seasons was five straight from 1959-1963.
AGGIES HAD THREE PLAYERS WITH 450 RUSHING YARDS
Utah State had three players (LaJuan Hunt, Joe Hill, JoJo Natson) with at least 450 yards rushing this season, marking just the second time in school history that has happened joining the 2011 team as Robert Turbin, Michael Smith and Kerwynn Williams each had at least 500 rushing yards.
AGGIES HAD FIVE PLAYERS WITH TWO TOUCHDOWN PASSES THIS SEASON
Utah State was the only team in the nation with five players who had at least two touchdown passes on the season in sophomore QB Darell Garretson (8), freshman QB Kent Myers (5), senior QB Craig Harrison (3), junior QB Chuckie Keeton (2), and senior WR Ronald Butler (2). USU was also the only team in the nation to record wins with four different starting QB's.
NOTABLES ON UTAH STATE'S DEFENSE
• Utah State has held its opponent out of the end zone in the first quarter in 32 of its last 42 games, and scoreless in the first quarter in 23 of its last 42 games. Overall, USU has led at the end of the first quarter in 32 of its last 42 games and is 27-5 in those contests. USU was 6-2 this season and is 13-2 under head coach Matt Wells when leading at the end of the first quarter.
• Utah State's defense held five of its 14 opponents this season (Wake Forest, Arkansas State, Air Force, Wyoming, UTEP) and 23 of its last 40 opponents overall without a first-half touchdown, while seven of its last 40 opponents have been held scoreless in the first-half. USU has led at the half in 33 of its last 42 games and is 29-4 in those contests. USU was 10-1 this season and is 18-2 under Wells when leading at the half.
UTAH STATE'S 24 FIRST TIME STARTERS TIED FOR SEVENTH IN THE NATION
Utah State has had 24 players make their first career start this season, which is tied for the seventh-most in the nation. Sophomore S Devin Centers, senior TE Jefferson Court, freshman CB Jalen Davis, junior OG Taani Fisilau, junior CB Bryant Hayes, sophomore OT Jake Simonich, sophomore OC Austin Stephens and senior OG Bill Vavau all made their first career starts at Tennessee, while junior LB LT Filiaga and junior WR Hunter Sharp both made their first career starts against Idaho State. Freshman WR Damoun Patterson made his first career start against Wake Forest. Junior RB Rashad Hall and redshirt freshman OG Tyshon Mosley both made their first career starts at Arkansas State. Junior LB Torrey Green made his first career start at BYU. Junior WR Devonte Robinson and junior NG Travis Seefeldt both made their first career starts against Air Force. Freshman RB LaJuan Hunt made his first career start against UNLV. Freshman QB Kent Myers and sophomore DE Siua Taufa both made their first career starts at Hawai'i. Junior LB Michael Okonkwo, junior LB Anthony Williams and sophomore OG Austin Albrecht all made their first career starts against San José State. UTAH STATE STARTED 24 DIFFERENT PLAYERS ON OFFENSE THIS SEASON
Utah State started four different quarterbacks, four different running backs, six different wide receivers, seven different offensive linemen and three different tight ends this season for a total of 24 different players at the 11 offensive positions.

Utah State was 2-4 against teams playing in bowl games this year as it defeated BYU (35-20) and Air Force (34-16), and lost to Tennessee (38-7), Arkansas State (21-14 OT), Colorado State (16-13) and Boise State (50-19).
Zach Vigil NAMED SECOND-TEAM ALL-AMERICAN AND MOUNTAIN WEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
• Utah State senior LB Zach Vigil was named the 2014 Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, marking the fourth time in the past five years and eighth time in league history that a linebacker has won the award. Vigil was also named a second-team All-American by USA Today Sports, a third-team All-American by Phil Steele, a fourth-team All-American by Athlon Sports, and an honorable mention All-American by SI.com.
• Vigil becomes just the 13th USU football player in school history to be named a first or second-team All-American, and the first-ever linebacker to be recognized this highly.
• Vigil becomes the ninth player in school history and first since 1998 to earn conference defensive player of the year honors joining LB Tony D'Amato (1998), DE Ben Crosland (1997), LB Jermaine Younger (1992), LB Del Lyles (1991), LB Al Smith (1986), DT Shawn Miller (1982), DT Mike Perko (1981) and DT Rulon Jones (1979), as all of those players were honored by the Big West Conference.
• Vigil is just the 11th player in school history to earn conference player of the year accolades as RB Robert Turbin was named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2011, while WR Kendal Smith was named the Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 1988.
• For Vigil, it marks the third time that he has earned all-conference honors as he was named second-team all-WAC as a sophomore in 2012, second-team all-Mountain West as a junior in 2013, and first-team all-MW this season. Overall, Vigil is just the 14th player in school history to earn all-conference honors (first or second team) at least three times joining Kent Ryan (1934-36), Murray Maughan (1938-40), Ralph Maughan (1943, `46-47), Guy McClure (1978-81), Dave Kuresa (1982-84), Warren Bowers (1990-92), Abu Wilson (1992, `94-96), Demario Brown (1996-97, `99), Ken Watts (1996-98), Brent Passey (1998-2000), Emmett White (1999-2001), Bobby Wagner (2009-11) and Tyler Larsen (2011-13).
UTAH STATE LEADS THE MOUNTAIN WEST IN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
• Utah State led the Mountain West in all-conference honorees in 2014 as it had five offensive players, eight defensive players and three specialists recognized for a total of 16 all-conference awards to rank first in the league, ahead of Colorado State's 15 all-conference selections. Boise State ranked third in the league with 12 all-conference honorees, followed by Air Force (9), Nevada (9), San Diego State (9), Fresno State (8), Hawai'i (8), New Mexico (6), San José State (6), UNLV (5) and Wyoming (3).
• Utah State also had the most first-team Mountain West selections with six, followed by Boise State (4), Colorado State (4), Air Force (3), Fresno State (3), New Mexico (2), Hawai'i (1), San Diego State (1) and Wyoming (1).
• Overall, Utah State's 16 total all-conference honorees rank tied for third all-time in school history behind the 18 all-Big West Conference picks in 1997, the 17 all-Western Athletic Conference picks in 2012, and tied with the 16 all-Big West selections in 1996. During its first season in the Mountain West a year ago, USU had 14 players earn various all-conference honors.
• Utah State players to earn first-team all-Mountain West honors in 2014 include senior DE B.J. UTAH STATE HAS FIVE FORMER WALK-ONS EARN MOUNTAIN WEST HONORS
Utah State had 15 players who earned 16 various all-Mountain West honors in 2014 and five of those players are former walk-ons in senior P Jaron Bentrude (honorable mention), senior DE B.J. Larsen (first team), junior DE Jordan Nielsen (honorable mention), senior SS Frankie Sutera (first team) and senior LB Zach Vigil (first team).
AGGIES WITH MULTIPLE ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
• Of the 15 Utah State players named to the various all-Mountain West teams, six are earning all-conference recognition for at least the second time. Along with senior LB Zach Vigil who is a three-time all-conference honoree, Utah State has five players who are being recognized for the second time in senior PK Nick Diaz, senior DE B.J. Larsen, junior WR/PR JoJo Natson, junior DE Jordan Nielsen and senior FS Brian Suite. During the 2013 season, Larsen was named second team all-Mountain West, while Diaz, Natson and Suite all earned honorable mention all-MW honors. Nielsen earned second-team all-WAC honors as a redshirt freshman in 2012.
• Aggies who earned all-conference honors for the first time in their careers this year include senior P Jaron Bentrude, sophomore FS Devin Centers, senior NG Elvis Kamana-Matagi, junior WR Hunter Sharp, sophomore OT Jake Simonich, sophomore OC Austin Stephens, sophomore LB Nick Vigil and senior OT Kevin Whimpey.
Jalen Davis NAMED FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICAN
Cornerback Jalen Davis was named a True Freshman All-American by 247Sports, as he is one of just 27 FBS players, including one of just four cornerbacks honored. Davis is the first Aggie to earn Freshman All-American honors since junior LB Kyler Fackrell was named a Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-American in 2012.
NOTABLES ON UTAH STATE'S HONOREES
SENIOR P Jaron Bentrude - Ranked eighth in the Mountain West and 71st in the nation in punting (40.8 ypk). Punted 83 times for 3,385 yards, which included 13 50-yard punts with a season-long of 56 yards. Furthermore, 32 of his punts were downed inside the 20-yard line to rank 22nd nationally. He also kicked off eight times this season for an average of 58.5 yards.
SENIOR PK Nick Diaz - Ranked tied for sixth in the Mountain West and tied for 74th in the nation in field goal percentage (.706), ninth in the MW and 92nd in the nation in field goals (0.86 pg), and seventh in the MW in scoring among kickers (5.8 ppg).
• Led the team with 81 points scored, as he was 12-of-17 on field goals and 45-of-48 on extra points. Ranks third all-time in school history for a single-season in both extra points made and attempted. Overall, Diaz earned Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week honors once this year.
SENIOR NG Elvis Kamana-Matagi - Had 19 tackles on the season, which included 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack.
SENIOR DE B.J. Larsen - Ranked tied for third in the Mountain West and tied for 39th in the nation in sacks (0.64 pg), and seventh in the MW in tackles for loss (0.96 pg). Ranked tied for first on the team with his 9.0 sacks, was third on the team with his 13.5 tackles for loss, and 10th on the team with his 37 tackles. Was also fifth on the team with his four quarterback hurries, to go along with one pass breakup and one interception.
SENIOR FS Brian Suite - Ranked 38th in the Mountain West in tackles (5.4 pg). Was fourth on the team in tackles (76), second in pass breakups (9) and tied for second in interceptions (2), while adding 1.0 tackle for loss.
SENIOR SS Frankie Sutera - Ranked tied for second in the Mountain West and tied for seventh nationally in interceptions (0.50 pg), and was 26th in the MW in tackles (6.2 pg). Ranked first on the team in interceptions (7), tied for first in quarterback hurries (6) and third in tackles (87), while adding 6.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two pass breakups and one forced fumble. His seven interceptions rank tied for the second most in MW single-season history and tied for the third-most in USU single-season history.
SENIOR LB Zach Vigil - Ranked second in the Mountain West and seventh in the nation in tackles (11.1 pg), second in the MW and tied for 13th in the nation in tackles for loss (1.46 pg), and tied for third in the MW and tied for 39th in the nation in sacks (0.64 pg).
• Led the team with 156 tackles and 20.5 tackles for loss, and was tied for first on the team with 9.0 sacks. Ranked tied for first on the team with five quarterback hurries to go along with four pass breakups, one forced fumble and one interception he returned 35 yards for a touchdown.
• Recorded a career-high 22 tackles against Air Force (10/11), which ranks tied for the most at the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level this year, and had nine double-digit tackle outings on the season. During his senior season, Vigil was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week twice.
• Vigil's 156 tackles this year rank third all-time in Mountain West single-season history and fourth in Utah State single-season history. Furthermore, Vigil's 20.5 tackles for loss ties the MW single-season record set a year ago by Boise State's Demarcus Lawrence and Colorado State's Shaquil Barrett.
SENIOR OT Kevin Whimpey - Graded out at 84 percent, which included 90 percent in both assignment and effort. Graded out at 80 percent or better in 13 of 14 games and led the team with 64 knockdowns.
JUNIOR WR/PR JoJo Natson - Ranked first in the Mountain West and tied for third in the nation with two punt returns for touchdown, first in the MW and 10th in the nation in punt returns (11.7 ypr), and eighth in the MW and 96th in the nation in all-purpose yards (99.6 pg). Returned 25 punts for 292 yards with two touchdowns on returns of 52 and 80 yards against Idaho State and Wyoming, respectively. Offensively, he ranked second on the team in receptions (51), tied for second in receiving touchdowns (2), and second in receiving yards (504). He also ranked third on the team in rushing yards (498), tied for third in rushing touchdowns (3), fourth in rushing attempts (50), and is the only FBS player with multiple touchdowns rushing (3), receiving (2) and returning (2).
JUNIOR DE Jordan Nielsen - Ranked first on the team among defensive linemen and eighth overall with 53 tackles. Ranked fifth on the team with 7.0 tackles for loss, while adding 2.5 sacks, five quarterback hurries, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
JUNIOR WR Hunter Sharp - Ranked tied for second in the Mountain West and tied for 54th in the nation in receiving touchdowns (7), fourth in the MW and 66th in the nation in receiving yards (67.1 pg), and eighth in the MW and 84th in the nation in receptions (4.7 pg). Ranked first on the team in receptions (66), receiving yards (939) and receiving touchdowns (7), while adding six rushes for 28 yards. Had four-straight 100-yard receiving games which are the most by an Aggie since 2001, and is the only FBS player this year with four touchdown receptions of at least 70 yards.

SOPHOMORE LB Nick Vigil - Ranked first in the Mountain West and tied for seventh in the nation in fumbles forced (0.38 pg), fourth in the MW and tied for 29th in the nation in tackles (9.5 pg), fourth in the MW and tied for 30th in the nation in tackles for loss (1.27 pg), and sixth in the MW in sacks (0.54 pg).
• Ranked first on the team in forced fumbles (5) and tied for first in quarterback hurries (6), while ranking second in tackles (123) and tackles for loss (16.5), and third in sacks (7.0). Also added two pass breakups and one interception this year. Rushed for 152 yards on 41 carries and scored three rushing touchdowns.
• Is the only player at the FBS level this year to start at both running back and linebacker in the same game, a feat he accomplished against UNLV (10/25), and is the only player at the FBS level this year to lead his team in both rushing (57 yards) and tackles (9) in the same game, a feat he accomplished against BYU (10/3).

UTAH STATE CONCLUDES SEASON WITH 21-6 BOWL WIN AGAINST UTEP
• Utah State concluded its 2014 season with a 21-6 win against UTEP in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl giving USU its third-straight bowl win in its fourth-straight bowl appearance, both of which are school records.
• Utah State is now 10-0 this season and 18-2 under head coach Matt Wells when scoring at least 20 points. USU is also 7-1 this year and 15-2 under Wells when allowing less than 20 points, including a 3-0 record this year and a 7-0 record under Wells when allowing less than 10 points.
• The six points allowed by Utah State against UTEP in the Gildan New Mexico is a USU bowl game record and are its second-fewest allowed this season behind the three points it allowed at Wyoming. Overall, it is the second time this year that USU has held its opponent without a touchdown.
• Utah State's 279 rushing yards against UTEP are its third-most in a game this year and USU finished the season by rushing for at least 200 yards in five of its final six games.
• Utah State limited UTEP to just 275 yards of total offense, which is the third-fewest by an Aggie opponent this season. The 126 passing yards by UTEP are the second-fewest allowed by USU this season behind the 61 passing yards by San José State.
• Utah State improved to 5-1 with Kent Myers as its starting quarterback and is now 11-2 during the last two seasons with a true freshman at quarterback.
• Utah State had just two penalties for 10 yards against UTEP, both of which are season-lows, and tied for the fewest penalties and penalty yards in a bowl game in school history.
• Utah State improved to 6-14 (.263) all-time in games played in December. USU is also now 3-0 this season and 7-1 under Wells in day games.
• Utah State is now 14-15 all-time against current Conference USA teams, including a 3-0 record against UTEP.

Last year, USU lost five starters to season-ending injuries in senior WR Travis Reynolds, senior TE D.J. Tialavea (foot), senior OG Kyle Whimpey (knee), junior RB Joe Hill, and junior QB Chuckie Keeton (knee).
• Utah State was the only team in the nation to lose nine starters to season-ending injuries this year, which included three different QBs and four LBs. USU was also one of just two teams in the nation, along with Vanderbilt, to start four different QBs, and USU was the only team in the nation that ended the season listing two true freshmen on its depth chart at QB.
Hunter Sharp LEADS THE NATION IN 70 YARD RECEIVING TOUCHDOWNS
Junior WR Hunter Sharp led the nation with his four touchdown receptions of 70-plus yards (81, 72, 75, 70) this season and is one of just two Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players in the last five years to accomplish this feat along with USC's Marqise Lee in 2012. Sharp's 81 yard touchdown reception was at Arkansas State (9/20), his 72-yard touchdown reception was at BYU (10/3), his 75-yard touchdown reception was against Air Force (10/11), and his 70 yard touchdown reception was at Hawai'i (11/1).
Devin Centers ONE OF 18 FBS DEFENDERS WITH MULTIPLE TOUCHDOWNS
Sophomore FS Devin Centers returned two fumbles for touchdowns this season, against Wake Forest (9/13) and Hawai'i (11/1), and was one of just 18 players at the FBS level with multiple defensive touchdowns on the season. Washington's Shaq Thompson led the nation with four defensive touchdowns this year, while Florida International's Richard Leonard and Western Kentucky's Wonderful Terry both scored three defensive touchdowns. Centers was tied with 15 other players for fourth in the nation with two defensive touchdowns.

Kent Myers NAMED OFFENSIVE MVP OF GILDAN NEW MEXICO BOWL
• Freshman QB Kent Myers provided productive play at quarterback this season as he was 5-1 as a starter and led the team in rushing touchdowns with five, despite playing in only seven games. In his most recent game against UTEP (12/20), Myers was named the Offensive MVP of the Gildan New Mexico Bowl as he rushed a career-high 15 times for 70 yards, including a 48-yard touchdown. Myers was also 5-of-12 passing for 68 yards with an interception. Myers finished the season with five passing touchdowns with three interceptions.
• Against San José State (11/21), Myers accounted for four touchdowns, including a career-high three rushing touchdowns from 28, 60 and two yards. Overall, Myers is the first quarterback in school history in the modern era to rush for three touchdowns in a game. Myers is also the first Aggie with three rushing touchdowns in a game since Joey DeMartino did so at New Mexico last year. On the ground, Myers rushed for a season-high 92 yards on just four carries, which included his career-long run of 60 yards.
• Myers set a Utah State and Mountain West single game record in his first career start at Hawai'i (11/1) with his completion percentage of 93.3 percent as he finished the game 14-of-15 passing for 186 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. The previous school record for completion percentage was 88.0 percent set by current USU senior QB Chuckie Keeton in 2012 against Southern Utah as he was 22-of-25 passing. The previous Mountain West record was 93.1 percent set by Boise State's Joe Southwick last season against Air Force as he was 27-of-29 passing. Myers completed his first 12 pass attempts in the game, which is also a school record according to available records.
• During his final three games, Myers carried the ball 30 times for 205 yards (6.8 ypc/68.3 ypg) with five rushing touchdowns.
Zach Vigil NAMED DEFENSIVE MVP OF GILDAN NEW MEXICO BOWL
• Senior LB Zach Vigil ended his career with his fourth-straight double-digit tackle performance in his last game against UTEP (12/20) as he had 11 tackles, which included 1.0 tackle for loss, to go along with one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry as he was named the Gildan New Mexico Bowl Defensive MVP. Overall, it was his ninth double-digit tackle performance of the season and the 20th of his career.
• Vigil had a career-high 22 tackles earlier this year against Air Force (10/11), which is tied with David Mayo of North Texas for the most tackles at the FBS level this season. Vigil also had 19 tackles against San José State (11/21), which included 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Those 19 tackles rank tied for the ninth-most in a single-game at the FBS level this year. Overall, Vigil had 9.0 sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss this season and 16.5 sacks and 43.5 tackles for loss in his career.
• During his final six games, Vigil recorded five double-digit tackle outings as he recorded 72 tackles (12.0 pg), including 9.5 tackles for loss (1.58 pg) and 5.5 sacks (0.92 pg).
Frankie Sutera CONCLUDES FABULOUS SENIOR SEASON
• Senior SS Frankie Sutera recorded four tackles, including 1.0 sack, in the final game of his career against UTEP (12/20) in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. In his previous game at Boise State (11/29), Sutera had a career-high 15 tackles, which included 1.0 sack for his first-career double-figure tackle outing.
• On the season, Sutera had seven interceptions which is tied with Ronald Edwards (1991) and Henry King (1965) for the third-most in a single-season in school history, and the most by an Aggie since Edwards had seven interceptions in 1991. The school record for interceptions in a season is 11 set by King in 1966. Sutera, who had eight career interceptions, had 157 interception return yards in his career to rank fifth all-time in school history.
• Sutera's seven interceptions this season rank tied for second all-time in a single-season in the history of the Mountain West, trailing Fresno State's Phillip Thomas who had eight interceptions in 2012. Overall, Sutera is one of just seven players in Mountain West history to have seven interceptions in a season.
• During his final five games, Sutera recorded 41 tackles (8.2 pg) including 3.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks.
LaJuan Hunt SHINED AS TRUE FRESHMAN
Freshman RB LaJuan Hunt recorded his first career rushing touchdown against New Mexico (11/15) on a 1-yard run. Hunt also recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game at Hawai'i (11/1) as he carried the ball 34 times for 145 yards, both of which are career-highs. Those 34 carries are the most by an Aggie since Joey DeMartino had 35 carries against Colorado State in 2013 and the most by a USU freshman in school history. The 145 rushing yards are the most by an Aggie since Kerwynn Williams had 235 rushing yards against Toledo in the 2012 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, and the most by a USU freshman since Abu Wilson rushed for 157 yards against New Mexico State in 1992. Furthermore, Hunt's 145 rushing yards marked the first time this season that USU had a 100-yard rusher.
Nick Vigil ENDS SEASON WITH SEVEN TACKLES AGAINST UTEP
• Sophomore LB Nick Vigil finished his sophomore season with seven tackles, including 0.5 tackles for loss, in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl against UTEP. He also carried the ball eight times for 34 yards and scored on a 3-yard touchdown run.
• In his previous game, Vigil recorded his third-straight double-digit tackle performance against Boise State (11/29) as he had 13 tackles, which included 2.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack, to go along with a forced fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Overall, Vigil had six double-digit tackle outings this season and his career to go along with five forced fumbles this season and in his career.
• During his last four games of the season, Vigil recorded 45 tackles (11.3 pg), including 5.5 tackles for loss (1.38 pg) and 1.5 sacks (0.38 pg), to go along with one forced fumble.
• Along with his success on defense, Vigil had a four-game stretch in October where he also played running back. Vigil saw his first career action on offense at No. 18 BYU (10/3) and led the team with 57 rushing yards on 16 carries, and scored his first career touchdown on a 1-yard run. Vigil also led the defense with nine tackles as he played 108 snaps. Vigil was the only player in the nation this season to lead his team in both rushing and tackles in the same game.
• Against Air Force (10/11), Vigil became the only player in the country this season to start on both offense and defense in the same game. Against the Falcons, he recorded 11 tackles, which included 1.0 tackle for loss. He also intercepted his first pass this season and second of his career that he returned 19 yards setting up an Aggie field goal in the second quarter. Ironically, Vigil also scored his second rushing touchdown in as many games on an eight-yard run on the series before his interception. On offense, Vigil carried the ball five times for 10 yards with one touchdown, and was 2-for-2 passing for 13 yards. Overall, Vigil played 97 total snaps against the Falcons (81-defense, 10-offense, 6-special teams).
• Against UNLV (10/25), Vigil led the team with 51 rushing yards on 11 carries, which included a career-long rush of 31 yards. Defensively, Vigil added six tackles, which included 1.5 sacks and forced a fumble. Vigil did all of this in the first-half, as he missed the second-half with a leg injury.
• Vigil had 123 tackles on the season, marking the 62nd time in school history that a player has record 100-plus tackles in a season.

• Junior WR JoJo Natson had three rushing touchdowns, two receiving touchdowns and two punt returns for touchdown this year to rank as the only player in the nation with multiple touchdowns rushing, receiving and returning. As a sophomore in 2013, Natson was also the only player in the nation with multiple touchdowns rushing (3), receiving (3) and returning (2). Overall, Natson has six career rushing touchdowns, five career receiving touchdowns and four career punt returns for touchdown.
• Natson's four career punt returns for touchdown is tied with Kevin Robinson (2004-07) for the most in school history and tied with Utah's Steve Smith (1999-2000) for the Mountain West record.
• Natson recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game against San José State (11/21) as he carried the ball seven times for a career-high 124 yards, which included a 56-yard touchdown run. The 124 rushing yards by Natson are the second-most by an Aggie this year, trailing the 145 yards from freshman RB LaJuan Hunt at Hawai'i (11/1), and the most by a player other than a running back in school history in the modern era.
• Natson is just the fourth non-running back to record 100 yards rushing in a single-game in school history joining quarterbacks Tony Adams, Diondre Borel and Chuckie Keeton. Adams rushed for 121 yards on 12 carries against Colorado State in 1972. Borel rushed for 105 yards on 22 carries against Fresno State in 2009. And Keeton rushed for 121 yards on 17 carries against Louisiana Tech in 2012. Those 121 rushing yards by Adams and Keeton are a single-game school record by a quarterback.
Jaron Bentrude DEVELOPED INTO AN OUTSTANDING PUNTER
Senior P Jaron Bentrude developed into an outstanding punter during his senior season as he had 13 punts of 50 or more yards, while 32 of his 83 punts (.386) were downed inside the 20-yard line, which ranked 22nd nationally. For his career, Bentrude had 19 punts of 50-plus yards, while 63 of his punts were downed inside the 20-yard line. Furthermore, Benturde had eight punts this year and 19 punts in his career downed inside the 10-yard line.

Brother linebackers in senior Zach Vigil and sophomore Nick Vigil both recorded double-digit tackles in the same game six times this year, including in three of Utah State's final four games. During Utah State's last four games, the Vigil brothers combined for 97 tackles (24.3 pg), which included 12.0 tackles for loss (3.0 pg) and 4.0 sacks (1.0 pg).

Senior PK Nick Diaz ranks among the top 10 in school history in the following categories:
• First all-time in extra points made with 136. Brad Bohn (1997-2000) held the previous school record with 107.
• First all-time in extra point attempts with 140. Bohn (1997-2000) held the previous school record with 119.
• Second all-time in field goal percentage at 73.6 percent (39-53). Russ Moody (1988-89) holds the school record at 84.6 percent (22-26).
• Tied for second all-time with Micah Knorr (1993-96) with 39 field goals made. Bohn holds the school record with 59.
• Third all-time in scoring with 253 points. Robert Turbin (2007-11) holds the school record with 308 career points.
• Tied for fifth all-time with Nathan Morreale (1993-94) in extra point percentage at 97.1 percent. Willie Beecher (1981-84) and Russ Moody (1988-89) are tied for first as neither missed an extra point during their careers as Beecher was 64-of-64 and Moody was 44-of-44.
• Tied for fifth all-time with Dene Garner (1985-87) with 53 field goal attempts. Bohn holds the school record with 89.

Senior PK Nick Diaz was 45-of-48 on extra points this season to rank third all-time in school history for a single-season in each category.
Zach Vigil FIFTH ALL-TIME IN SCHOOL HISTORY IN CAREER TACKLES
Senior LB Zach Vigil recorded 11 tackles in his final game against UTEP to give him 389 tackles in his career to rank fifth all-time in school history. All-time, Vigil is one of just four players in school history with 100-plus tackles in three seasons joining Bobby Wagner (2008-11), Jesse Busta (2000-02) and Brent Passey (1998-2000) as Vigil had 105 tackles as a sophomore and 124 tackles as a junior to go along with his 156 tackles this season.
Zach Vigil IN THE SINGLE-SEASON AND CAREER RECORD BOOKS
Senior LB Zach Vigil had 156 tackles this season to rank third all-time in Mountain West single-season history and fourth in Utah State single-season history. Vigil also had 20.5 tackles for loss this season and 43.5 tackles for loss in his career, breaking Jermaine Younger's career school record of 43.0 tackles for loss set from 1990-1993. Vigil also tied the Mountain West single-season record of 20.5 tackles for loss set a year ago by Boise State's Demarcus Lawrence and Colorado State's Shaquil Barrett.
ZACH AND Nick Vigil RANK FIRST AMONG ACTIVE BROTHERS IN TACKLES
Senior LB Zach Vigil recorded 389 tackles during his career and sophomore LB Nick Vigil has recorded 180 career tackles. Overall, the two brothers have combined for 569 career tackles to rank first at the FBS level as far as active brothers ahead of Duke's Kelby and Kyler Brown who have combined for 327 career tackles.

Junior WR/PR JoJo Natson ranks third all-time in school history with a punt return average of 11.5 yards as he has returned 56 punts for 643 yards during his career. The school record for career punt return average is 18.8 yards set by Tom Larscheid (1959-61).

Joe Hill 27TH PLAYER IN SCHOOL HISTORY WITH 1,000 RUSHING YARDS
Senior RB Joe Hill rushed for 1,052 yards on 221 carries (4.8 ypc) during his Aggie career to become the 27th player in school history to rush for 1,000 career yards. Buddy Allen (1958-59) ranks 26th all-time in rushing at USU with 1,068 yards.
Hunter Sharp TIED FOR NINTH IN SINGLE-SEASON RECEPTIONS
Junior WR Hunter Sharp caught 66 passes for 939 yards with seven touchdowns this season and is tied with James Murphy (1980) for ninth-place all-time in school history in single-season receptions.

Senior QB Chuckie Keeton ranks among the top 10 in school history in the following categories:
• First all-time with a career completion percentage of 65.4 percent (568-869).
• First all-time with an interception percentage of 0.020 as he has thrown just 17 interceptions in 869 pass attempts.
• Second all-time with 58 career touchdown passes. Jose Fuentes (1999-2002) holds the school record at 60.
• Second all-time with 568 career completions. Fuentes holds the school record with 704.
• Third all-time with 7,621 yards of total offense (6,387-passing, 1,234-rushing). Fuentes holds the school record with 8,791 yards, while while Diondre Borel (2007-10) is second with 8,096 yards.
• Third all-time with 6,387 passing yards. Fuentes holds the school record with 9,168 yards.
• Fourth all-time with 869 career pass attempts. Fuentes holds the school record with 1,270.

• Is the only quarterback in school history to have five touchdown passes in three games as he tied the single-game school record against both Air Force (9/7/13) and Weber State (9/14/13) during his junior season, as well as against Wyoming (10/8/11) as a freshman.
• Set a single-game school record with an 88.0 percent completion percentage against Southern Utah (8/30/12) during his sophomore season as he was 22-of-25 passing.
• Tied the single-game school record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 121 yards on a career-high tying 17 carries in a 48-41 overtime win at No. 19 Louisiana Tech (11/17/12) during his sophomore season. Tony Adams set the record in 1972.

Senior QB Chuckie Keeton was putting up some gaudy numbers during his junior season before missing the final eight games with a knee injury suffered against BYU on Oct. 4. Through his first five games, Keeton ranked second in the nation with 17 touchdown passes, while also ranking first in the Mountain West and second in the nation in points responsible for (22.8 pg), second in the MW and 22nd in the nation in passing efficiency (161.6), third in the MW and eighth in the nation in completions (26.4 pg), third in the MW and 11th in the nation in completion percentage (.710), third in the MW and 18th in the nation in total offense (317.2 ypg), and fourth in the MW and 25th in the nation in passing (272.4 ypg). Keeton concluded his junior campaign completing 136-of-196 passes for 1,388 yards (231.3 ypg) with 18 touchdowns and two interceptions, while rushing for 241 yards on 55 carries (40.2 ypg/4.4 ypc) with two more scores. Those 18 touchdown passes rank tied for ninth all-time at USU, while his completion percentage of 69.4 percent ranks first all-time.

Along with all of its success on the field, Utah State has also excelled in the classroom as it had 22 football players earn academic all-Mountain West honors in 2013, including five Mountain West Scholar-Athletes, both of which ranked second in the league. Over the past five years, USU has had 106 players earn academic all-league honors and 129 players have graduated from Utah State. USU also has a Graduation Success rate (GSR) of 86 percent to rank second in the Mountain West.
UTAH STATE HEAD COACH Matt Wells
• Matt Wells has wasted little time putting his stamp on the Aggie football program in his first two seasons as head coach, as USU is 19-9 over the past two years, including a 13-3 Mountain West record. Those 19 wins are a school-record by a USU coach in his first two seasons. USU also played in its fourth-straight bowl game and won its third-straight bowl, including two in a row under Wells.
• Wells led Utah State to 10 wins in 2014 to rank as the second-most in school history behind the 2012 team that finished with an 11-2 record.
• During the 2014 season, Wells mentored 15 players who earned 16 all-Mountain West honors, which were the most in the league and tied for the third-most in school history.
• Wells led Utah State to the inaugural Mountain West Championship game after winning the Mountain Division of the conference with a 7-1 record in 2013. He also led USU to just its third-ever bowl victory as it posted a 21-14 win against No. 24 Northern Illinois in the 2013 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.
• Wells was named the 2013 Mountain West Coach of the Year as he set the school record for wins by a first-year head coach as the Aggies finished the 2013 season with a 9-5 record.
• During his first year as Utah State's head coach, Wells mentored 14 Aggies who earned various all-Mountain West honors, including three All-Americans as Tyler Larsen was named a second-team All-American by USA Today Sports, Nevin Lawson was named a third-team All-American by College Sports Madness, and Kyler Fackrell was named an honorable mention Sophomore All-American by College Football News.
• Wells coached a school-record four players who were invited and participated in the 2014 NFL Combine in Larsen, Lawson, Maurice Alexander and D.J. Tialavea, while a total of 11 players from the 2013 roster were invited to NFL camps, including Alexander (St. Louis Rams) and Lawson (Detroit Lions) who were both selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
• Overall, Wells is the second USU coach and fifth in school history to garner conference coach of the year honors along with Bruce Snyder (1978), Chuck Shelton (1991), John L. Smith (1997) and Gary Andersen (2012). Wells is also the fourth individual to earn MW Coach of the Year honors in his first season along with BYU's Gary Crowton (2001), Utah's Urban Meyer (2003) and Air Force's Troy Calhoun (2007).
• Wells, who is the 12th-youngest head coach at the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) level and one of just 13 coaches to lead his alma mater, is just the second Utah State graduate to be appointed its head football coach joining Chris Pella, who graduated from USU in 1965 and coached the Aggies from 1983-85.
• Prior to being named the head coach at his alma mater, Wells spent the previous two seasons as an assistant at Utah State, including serving as the team's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2012. In 2011, Wells coached USU's quarterbacks and was the team's recruiting coordinator.
• During his four years at Utah State, Wells has been part of a USU program that has played in four straight bowl games for the first time in school history, and won three-straight bowl games for the first time ever, while posting a 37-17 record.
• As offensive coordinator in 2012, Utah State concluded its most successful season in school history with a school-best 11-2 record. USU also won its first outright conference championship since 1936.
