AUSTIN, Texas. - Utah State track & field sent over 80 athletes to three states and four meets this weekend as 11 of those athletes participated in the prestigous Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, which took place Wednesday through Saturday in Austin, Texas.

Utah State's men's 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams both advanced to the Texas Relay finals in their respective events.

The 4x100m relay team of seniors Nic Bowens, Parker Bluth and Cole Lambourne, along with sophomore Brady Martin, finished fifth with a time of 40.45, which ranks seventh all-time in USU history. The 4x400m team made up of Lambourne, Bluth, Martin and senior Tanner Hunt placed sixth, clocking a time of 3:08.46.

On the women's side, senior Kaitlyn Wilcox, junior Brittany Rawlins, sophomore Breann Bate and freshman Whitney Wilcox finished 26th in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:54.35 in the Texas Relay preliminaries.

A portion of Utah State's track & field teams competed at the Stanford Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 1-2. It was there that freshman Kashley Carter broke the school record in the 5,000m by 20 seconds with a time of 16:23.94, placing her third at the meet. Carter now owns the 5,000m and 3,000m school records after competing in just her second collegiate meet.

Maci Bingham, a senior, nearly added another school record at the Stanford Invitational by placing second in the hammer throw with a toss of 61.94m (203-2), finishing just behind the school-record mark of 61.99. Bingham also recorded a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 14.49m (47-06.50) and an eighth-place finish in the discus with a distance of 49.66m (162-11).

Kevin Allen highlighted the Aggie Men in the field events at the Stanford Invitational by finishing second in the discus with a mark of 53.61m (175-11). Dillon Maggard also paced the Aggies on the track by placing 16th in the 5,000m with a time of 14:15.86, sixth-best all-time in school history.

A small squad of Aggie distance runners also competed at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival on Friday, April 1. Junior Jacqueline Winterton placed fifth at the meet in the 10,000m with a time of 35:47.56, which ranks second all-time in USU history.

Jordan Beutler, a sophomore, spurred on the men's effort at the distance carnival by crossing the line fifth in the 800m with a time of 1:51.25.

The remainder of Utah State's tracksters stayed local and attended the Utah Valley Invitational on Friday, March 11 in Orem, Utah.

Highlights from the UVU invitational included a first-place finish by junior Shelby Jordan in the shot put (13.54m/44.5.25) and a third-place finish by fellow junior Landon Watts in the 400m (49.05).

Utah State track & field returns to action next week, April 9, at the UCLA invitational in Los Angeles, Calif.

The Mountain West Outdoor Championships will be held in Fresno, Calif., on May 11-14, just 11 days before the First Round of the NCAA Championships in Lawrence, Kan., on March 11.
