LOGAN, Utah — Junior Sarah Ellis and graduate Camren Todd broke school records as Utah State track & field won six individual titles, earned 17 podium finishes and posted 14 top-10 performances in school history at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco, California, from Thursday-Friday, the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, California, and the UNLV Rebel ELITE from Friday-Saturday.

"I'm thrilled with the results that we got this weekend! School records from Camren and Sarah were fantastic, and we had a number of other top-10 marks. Most importantly, I think we got a handful of additional NCAA West prelim qualifiers. It was a really successful weekend and we will look to build on it in the coming weeks."

At the Stanford Invitational, Todd shattered the USU record in the 10,000 meters with his finishing time of 28:10.91. The reigning cross country All-American's time was 22.54 seconds faster than the record set by Luke Beattie in 2021. Todd ran the first 5,000 meters in 14:04.04, which by itself would have ranked 11th in Aggie history at that distance, before running 14:06.87 over the back half of the race. His time also beat his previous personal best, which ranked third in school history, by 42.17 seconds.

Ellis became the first Aggie woman to break a school record in the 2024-25 campaign by running the 5,000 meters in 16:04.58, topping Mica Rivera's time of 16:07.73 set in 2023. The Issaquah, Washington, native improved on her personal best, previously the sixth-best in USU history, by 23.88 seconds. Ellis placed fifth in Section 2 of the 5,000-meter competition.

Ellis and Todd headlined a historic day for Utah State's distance runners. Including the two records, Aggies posted nine times in races 1,500 meters or longer that rank in the school's top 10, eight of them coming at the Stanford Invitational.

Senior Emma Thornley and sophomores Brianne Smith and Joshua McKee contributed top-10 times in the 10,000 meters. Thornley ran 33:32.13 in Section 1 of the competition, shaving 2.49 seconds off her personal record that ranks third in Aggie history. Smith clocked in at 34:08.72, good for eighth in Section 2 and sixth in the USU record book. McKee was the first Aggie to post a top-10 time, running 29:27.66 in Section 3 of the men's competition to finish sixth in Friday's first race and move into ninth in school history.

Junior LJ Floyd placed fourth in Section 4 of the men's 5,000 meters, finishing in a time of 13:59.96 that ranks him eighth all-time at Utah State.

Sophomore Shelby Jensen and junior Logan Garnica contributed top-10 times in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Jensen won Section 2 of the women's competition with a time of 10:01.58. The product of Westlake High School, who already ranked second in USU history in the event, trimmed exactly ten seconds off of her previous best and now sits 12.25 seconds shy of Cierra Simmons-Mecham's school record. Garnica moved from sixth to third in the record book by running 8:41.98 in Section 1 of the men's steeplechase, which was also good for 10th in the race.

At the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, sophomore Joshua Armstrong won the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:44.76 that vaulted him into eighth place in the Aggie top-10 list.

USU's men also saw success in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the San Francisco meet as sophomores Garrett Woodhouse and Bryce Hill claimed the top-two spots in the competition with times of 8:53.67 and 8:56.20, respectively.

The javelin squad also saw great success at the Stanford Invitational. Graduate Melissa Navarro placed sixth in Friday's Invite section with a throw of 43.51 meters (142-9) that lofted her into 10th in Aggie history. Her time in the record book was short-lived, as junior teammate Symphony Fike threw 43.99 meters (144-4) in her first attempt of the 2025 season to claim second place in the Collegiate section and move into 10th in school history herself. On the men's side, sophomore Walker Deede finished runner-up in the Invite division with a mark of 66.26 meters (217-4) and sophomore Kace Jones won the Collegiate division with his long throw of 56.21 meters (184-5).

Aggie women added a pair of podium finishes in the Collegiate sections of the hammer throw and discus, with graduate Mackenzie Patten placing third in the hammer with a mark of 46.11 meters (151-3) and sophomore Ruby Jordan throwing 41.22 meters (135-3) to finish runner-up in the discus.

On a breezy Saturday in Las Vegas, junior Logan Hammer tied for first place in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 5.39 meters (17-8.25). Junior teammate Marshall Rasmussen took fourth with a height of 5.19 meters (17-0.25), a mark that moves him from ninth place to seventh in the Utah State record book.

Freshmen Diego Aguirre-Stewart, Daniel Chase, Mathew Hall and Ayodele Ojo ran a blistering 39.65 in the men's 4x100-meter relay to win the event and claim third place in the school record book in the event.

Junior Krysthina Vlahovic ran the 100-meter hurdles in 13.46 to take fourth in the UNLV Rebel ELITE's competition. With her time, the Canadian moved from eighth to a tie for third in USU history.

On the final race of Saturday's meet, senior Emma Reeves ran the 200 meters in a time of 24.09 that ranks 10th in school history. This marks the fifth consecutive meet where Reeves has set a school top-10 mark, with each performance coming in a separate event.

USU women added a trio of podium finishes at the UNLV Rebel ELITE. Senior Adi Nielson placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.67, just 0.05 seconds shy of her personal best, Junior Alison Richter ran an outdoor-best 2:10.42 in the 800 meters to finish runner-up in the competition. Freshman Mashaylee Jones placed third in the women's 400 meters with a time of 54.89.

Men's jumpers also earned a pair of podium finishes. Senior Joshua Hartvigsen finished third in Friday's long jump competition with a personal-best jump of 7.35 meters (24-1.5), a performance that was two centimeters shy of making the USU top-10 list. Sophomore Taite Priestley jumped 2.05 meters (6-8.75) to place second in the men's high jump.

Utah State will stay in the Beehive State next weekend as they compete in the Weber-Utah Spring Classic. Competition will begin in Ogden on Friday, April 11, and conclude in Salt Lake City on Saturday, April 12.
