CLOVIS, Calif. — Utah State track & field earned 42 team points and posted one performance that ranks in the top-10 in school history on the second day of the 2026 Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Clovis, California, on Friday.
Graduate
Logan Garnica led Utah State's third-ranked 3,000-meter steeplechase squad on Friday night with a silver-medal performance, clocking in at 8:39.66. The USU record-holder in the event earned his first career MW medal at the outdoor championships, having previously earned second-team All-MW honors in cross country.
Juniors
Garrett Woodhouse,
Bryce Hill and
Michael Amitava Maiorano placed fourth through sixth with respective times of 8:44.46, 8:58.10 and 9:01.30. In total, Utah State collected 20 team points in the steeplechase, which is the most the Aggies have ever earned in the event at the MW championships. Wyoming's Ryker Holtzen won the steeplechase title with a time of 8:37.62.
Senior
Javin Richards began the action on Friday by claiming silver in the men's decathlon with 7,254 points. Cooper and Fairbanks, who entered the day tied for sixth in the MW and third in Utah State history, finished with respective clearances of 4.13 meters (13-6.5) and 3.88 meters (12-8.75). Cooper grazed but ultimately cleared the 4.13-meter bar on her final jump to set a personal best, move into sole possession of third place in USU history and secure the Aggies' best-ever pole vault finish at the MW outdoor championships. Grand Canyon's Tatum Moku won the title with a meet-record height of 4.38 meters (14-4.5).
In the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior

Cam Burkett of Wyoming won the title with a throw of 19.19 meters (62-11.5).
Senior
