LOGAN, Utah — In front of hundreds of home fans, Utah State track & field totaled 11 titles and 45 top-five finishes on the second and final day of the USU-hosted Aggie Invitational at Ralph Maughan Track Stadium on Saturday.

Artie Gulden, Utah State's director of track & field and cross country, was especially pleased with the performances of the Aggie women hurdlers.

Junior Maddie Edwards won the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.73. Edwards improved her personal best by over a second in front of a crowd of family and friends.

"It's fun to have all my family and friends here. It's obviously nice to run at your home track and where you practice," Edwards said. "It's been fun to see everyone do so well."

With her performance, Edwards now ranks third all-time in the 400-meter hurdles in USU history.

"We've been training our first 200 meters a lot this year and working on especially hurdles one and two," Edwards said. "I've kind of struggled stuttering to the first one, so I tried some different stuff in setting up my blocks and coming out strong in the first 200 and it went well."

In the same event, senior Olivia Smith finished second with a time of 59.60, and junior Adi Nielson took third with a time of 59.62, which moves Nielson up to eighth all-time in school history.

"It's great. I think the goal for all three of them is to make it to the NCAA West Preliminaries in that event and I think they all certainly have a shot," Gulden said. "We still have great races to go through the season so I would expect them all to get faster."

In the women's 100-meter hurdles, three Aggies finished in the top five with senior Abbey Bryant leading the way with a time of 13.38 to win the title. Sophomore Krysthina Vlahovic came in fourth with a time of 13.86 and Edwards placed fifth with a time of 13.95.

"All of them are running well, to have all three under 14 seconds — that was great, " Gulden said. "It's not like it was super windy and they got a benefit from that, it wasn't. Those were just true times, not winded."

Senior Sidnee Naerebout came in first in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.30 meters (40-4.25), which improves her mark of fourth-best all-time in school history.

In the men's shot put, senior Gavin Beierle won the title with a mark of 16.87 meters (55-4.25).

Senior Spencer Nelson was triumphant in the men's 1,500 meters with a time of 3:50.06, leading four Aggies to a top-five finish. Junior Wyatt Evans came in second at 3:50.43, sophomore Drew Hogan placed third with a time of 3:51.13 and freshman Bryce Hill finished fifth with a time of 3:55.94.

"1,500 was really good today," Gulden said. "Really encouraging, we'll see how things shake out the next few weeks for them.

In the 800 meters, Aggies won both the women's and men's events as freshman Marion Packer came in first with a time of 2:14.40 and freshman Carson Coleman took first with a time of 1:52.99, respectively.
