KICKOFF COVERAGE
• Utah State begins Mountain West play at San José State on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 5:30 p.m. (MT). USU is 16-20-1 all-time against the Spartans, including a 6-11-1 road record. Overall, Utah State has won six straight games in the series, including three straight in San Jose.

• Utah State is beginning conference play on the road for the first time in four years and is 3-1 all-time in Mountain West openers, including a 1-0 road record. Overall, USU is 31-26-3 (.542) all-time in conference openers and has a 12-13-3 (.482) record in league openers on the road. Overall, USU has won four of its last five league openers.

• Utah State and San José State are meeting in a conference opener for the fifth time in series history, also doing so in 1979 and 1991 in the Big West Conference, and 2007 and 2012 in the Western Athletic Conference. Overall, USU is 1-2-1 against SJSU in conference openers.

• Utah State is 19-13 (.594) all-time in the Mountain West, including a 7-9 road record, and has won 30 of its last 43 (.698) league games dating back to 2011.

• Utah State will be looking to start a season 2-2 for the fifth-straight year under head coach Matt Wells. The last time USU was 1-3 to start a campaign was in 2011.

• Utah State has five players on its current roster who played in the last meeting against San José State in 2014 in senior CB Jalen Davis, senior RB LaJuan Hunt, senior QB Kent Myers, senior WR Braelon Roberts and senior DE Ian Togiai. Myers was 15-of-22 (.682) passing for 108 yards and one touchdown, and carried the ball four times for 92 yards, including three touchdowns (28, 60, 2), which is tied with senior TE Damion Hobbs for the most by a quarterback in a single-game in school history. In fact, Myers' 60-yard run is still his career long and his three rushing touchdowns are his career high. Davis also started and had three tackles and one pass breakup, and returned two kickoffs for 66 yards, including a career long of 44 yards. Hunt carried the ball eight times for 43 yards, while Roberts and Togiai did not record any stats.

UTAH STATE FOOTBALL ON FACEBOOK
• Utah State's Mountain West road game at San José State, through a partnership with Stadium, will be its second of three games that will air exclusively on Facebook, which is a platform that has more than 100 million video views daily. USU's other game on Facebook is a home contest against Wyoming on Saturday, Oct. 14.

AGGIES ON THE ROAD
• Utah State has won 15 of its last 37 (.405) road games and is 8-20 (.286) in road games under head coach Matt Wells. USU has won 12 of its last 21 games played during the month of September and is 4-4 all-time in games played on Sept. 23.

• Utah State is playing three of its first four games on the road for the first time since 2013, when it had four of its first five games on the road.

UTAH STATE ENTERING FIFTH SEASON IN MOUNTAIN WEST
• Utah State is entering its fifth year as a member of the Mountain West and has been a Division I-A/Bowl Championship Series football playing school in each of its 119 seasons of competition. USU joined the Mountain States/Skyline Conference in 1938 until 1961. USU then played as a football independent from 1962-77 when the Aggies became members of the Pacific Coast Athletic Association in 1978. The PCAA changed its name to the Big West Conference in 1988. Following the 2000 season, when the Big West no longer sponsored football, USU spent two years as an independent (2001-02) and two years in the Sun Belt Conference (2003-04), before joining the Western Athletic Conference for eight seasons from 2005-12.

UTAH STATE VERSUS THE MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERENCE
• Utah State is 146-175-8 (.456) all-time against current members of the Mountain West with a 38-25-4 record vs. Wyoming, a 33-38-2 record vs. Colorado State, a 15-7 record vs. UNLV, a 16-20-1 record vs. San José State, a 12-17-1 record vs. Fresno State, a 10-13 record vs. New Mexico, an 8-6 record vs. Hawai`i, a 6-18 record vs. Nevada, a 5-16 record vs. Boise State, a 2-3 record vs. Air Force, and a 1-12 record vs. San Diego State.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS WITH UTAH STATE
• Utah State has won 19 of its last 22 games when it has a 100-yard rusher and 23 of its last 25 contests when rushing at least 40 times in a game.

• Utah State has now won 36 of its last 37 games dating back to 2011 when scoring at least 30 points. In fact, USU had won 35 straight games when scoring at least 30 points before losing at Nevada, 38-37, last season.

DID YOU KNOW?
• Utah State has had a different player lead the team in tackles in each of its first three games this year. Senior BS Dallin Leavitt and junior LB Suli Tamaivena each had seven tackles at No. 9 Wisconsin. Junior LB Chase Christiansen had eight tackles against Idaho State. • Utah State has blocked a punt in each of its last two games as junior LB Louy Compton blocked an Idaho State punt two weekends ago, while junior QB DJ Nelson blocked a Wake Forest punt last weekend. The school record for blocked kicks in a season is six set in 2012. Overall, it is USU's 12th blocked kick under head coach Matt Wells.

SCOUTING SAN JOSÉ STATE
• San José State is 1-3 on the season as it opened the year with a 42-22 home loss to 19th-ranked South Florida, posted a 34-13 home win against Cal Poly, and has lost back-to-back road games with a 56-0 loss at Texas and a 54-16 loss at Utah. The Spartans are led by sophomore QB Josh Love, who is 36-of-70 passing for 403 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. Sophomore RB Zamore Zigler leads the team in rushing as he has carried the ball 35 times for 174 yards and one touchdown, and sophomore WR Bailey Gaither has a team-best 18 receptions for 290 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, junior LB Frank Ginda has a team-best 57 tackles, which includes 4.5 tackles for loss, and sophomore LB Ethan Aguayo has 40 tackles, which includes 1.5 tackles for loss, to go along with one fumble recovery. As a team, San José State is averaging 18.0 points and 325.8 yards of total offense per game (212.8 passing, 113.0 rushing) and allowing 41.2 points and 476.2 yards of offense (207.0 passing, 269.2 rushing). San José State returns 15 starters (O-7, D-8) and 34 lettermen (O-17, D-15, S-2) from last year's team that went 4-8 and finished tied for third in the West Division of the Mountain West with a 3-5 mark. The Spartans are coached by Brent Brennan, who is in his first season as a collegiate head coach.

GGIES AND SPARTANS SERIES HISTORY
• Utah State trails in the all-time series against San José State, 16-20-1, including a 6-11-1 road record. The first game played in the series was on Sept. 30, 1940, in Logan with SJSU winning, 19-0. In fact, San José State won the first five games ever played in the series before USU won four straight from 1962-66. USU has won six straight in the series, including a 41-7 home win in 2014, which was the last meeting between the two teams. USU also won the last meeting between the two teams in San Jose, 40-12, in 2013. In fact, Utah State has won three-straight road games in the series and the last time the Spartans won a game against the Aggies was on Oct. 11, 2008, in San Jose, 30-7.

UTAH STATE AND SAN JOSÉ STATE AS CONFERENCE FOES
• Utah State and San José State have spent 30 years as league foes as both schools joined the Mountain West on July 1, 2013. The two schools began their conference affiliation as members of the Big West from 1978-1995 and were conference foes in the Western Athletic Conference from 2005-12. As members of the Big West, San José State held a 10-4-1 series advantage against Utah State, while the series record as WAC members was 5-3-0 in favor of the Aggies. USU is 2-0 against the Spartans as members of the Mountain West.

AGGIES VS. SPARTANS SERIES SIXTH-LONGEST IN SCHOOL HISTORY
• Utah State and San José State will be meeting for the 38th time in series history this weekend for the sixth-most played series in school history, trailing Utah (112), BYU (86), Colorado State (73), Wyoming (67) and Idaho (39). USU's 37 current meetings with SJSU is tied with New Mexico State for the sixth-most in school history.

UTAH STATE PLAYING ON BOTH COASTS IN BACK-TO-BACK WEEKENDS
• Utah State has seen plenty of the United States during the past two weeks with games on both coasts. On Saturday, Sept. 16, USU played at Wake Forest and on Saturday, Sept. 23, USU opens Mountain West play at San José State. During these two weeks, USU will log roughly 5,670 combined miles in the air as its flight from Logan to Winston-Salem, N.C., was 2,033 miles each way, while its flight from Logan to San Jose, Calif., is 802 miles each way.

• Matt Wells is 2-0 all-time against San José State as Utah State's head coach and has faced the Spartans five times as an assistant, including twice at USU and three times at Tulsa.

• Utah State set single-game school records as nine Aggies recorded 13.0 sacks and 15.0 tackles for loss at San José State in 2012... USU held SJSU to negative 15 rushing yards in 1985 and four rushing yards in 2012, which ranks as the sixth- and 16th-fewest in school history... USU passed for 412 yards against SJSU in 1988 and 384 yards in 1987, which ranks as the 10th- and 18th-most in school history... USU rushed for 381 yards against SJSU in 2009, which ranks as the 16th-most in school history... Danilo Robinson set the school record with 5.0 sacks and 6.0 tackles for loss against SJSU in 1995... • Former Utah State head coach John Ralston (1959-62) spent four years as San José State's head coach (1993-1996). At USU, Ralston compiled a 31-11-1 (.733) record, ranking first all-time in winning percentage and second all-time in wins. While at SJSU, Ralston was 11-34 (.244). SJSU defensive coordinator Derrick Odum spent three seasons at USU (2000-02) as the secondary coach. SJSU linebackers coach Bojay Filimoeatu was a two-year letterwinner (2011-12) for the Aggies, helping the team to back-to-back Famous Idaho Potato Bowl appearances. Filimoeatu's wife, Hailey Froton, was a four-year letterwinner (2012-15) and two-time all-conference softball player for USU, and still holds the school record for RBIs (132).

LAST MEETING vs. SAN JOSÉ STATE
LOGAN, Utah - Freshman QB Kent Myers accounted for four touchdowns and junior WR JoJo Natson rushed for a career-high 124 yards in leading Utah State (9-3, 6-1 MW) to a 41-7 Mountain West home win against San José State (3-8, 2-5) on Nov. 21, 2014.

Prior to the game, Utah State honored its 2014 senior class that has posted the best four-year stretch in school history with 36 wins, which includes back-to-back bowl wins and its upcoming fourth-straight bowl appearance this season.

Myers rushed for a career-high 92 yards on just four carries and scored three rushing touchdowns on runs of 28, 60 and two yards. Myers also threw one touchdown pass as he finished the game 15-of-22 passing for 108 yards as he recorded career-highs in both pass attempts and completions. Natson carried the ball just seven times in posting his career-high 124 rushing yards, which included a 56-yard touchdown run. Senior RB Joe Hill added 54 yards on 15 carries and freshman RB LaJuan Hunt had 43 yards on eight carries as USU rushed for a season-high 313 yards in the game.

Utah State finished the game with 421 yards of total offense (313 rushing, 108 passing) as it has now rushed for at least 200 yards in each of its last four games.

Tyler Ervin had 104 rushing yards on 22 carries for San José State as the Spartans had just 252 yards of total offense (191 rushing, 61 passing), including just 66 yards in the second-half.

Senior LB Zach Vigil led Utah State's defense as he recorded 19 tackles, which included 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Overall, it was Vigil's seventh double-digit tackle outing of the season and the 18th of his career. Sophomore LB Nick Vigil added 12 stops for his fifth double-digit tackle outing this season and of his career.

After forcing a three-and-out on defense on San José State's first drive of the game, Utah State drove 55 yards in seven plays, culminating in Myers 28-yard touchdown run for an early 7-0 lead.

San Jose State tied the game early in the second quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by QB Mitch Ravizza.

Utah State's defense set up its second touchdown of the game as Zach Vigil denied the Spartans on a fourth-and-one at the USU 36-yard line and Myers scored on a 60-yard run two plays later to give the home team a 14-7 lead that it took into halftime.

Following a 44-yard kickoff return from freshman CB Jalen Davis to start the second-half, Natson ran 56 yards on the Aggies' first play from scrimmage to push its lead to 21-7. Myers then added his third rushing touchdown of the game late in the third quarter from 2-yards out to cap a 6-play, 68-yard drive to give USU a 28-7 lead.

Utah State scored 14 more points in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard pass from Myers to senior TE Jefferson Court and a 5-yard run by junior RB Rashad Hall to make the final score 41-7 as USU's PAT attempt following its last touchdown was no good.

In the second-half, Utah State limited San Jose State to just four first downs and 66 yards of total offense, while USU had 14 first downs and 256 yards of total offense, including 189 yards on the ground.

LAST MEETING at SAN JOSÉ STATE
SAN JOSE, Calif. - Behind 520 yards of total offense and four total touchdowns from junior QB Chuckie Keeton, Utah State (3-2, 2-0 MW) speared the Spartans (1-3, 0-1 MW) of San José State, 40-12, on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, in a nationally-televised game on ESPN.

Junior PK Nick Diaz booted a career-high four field goals, including a season-long 45-yarder, marking the first time a USU kicker had four field goals in a game since 1999.

The win was USU's fifth-straight in the series and the longest in series history, while its 28-point margin of victory was also its largest in series history.

Utah State's 520 yards came on 260 through the air as Keeton was 29-of-42 passing with three touchdowns. Keeton also rushed for 52 yards on 12 carries with another score, as part of the Aggies' 253 yards on the ground.

Senior RB Joey DeMartino rushed 17 times for 120 yards, both career-highs, while senior WR Travis Reynolds also posted a pair of career-bests with eight catches for 77 yards. Sophomore WR Brandon Swindall and fellow sophomore WR JoJo Natson both added five receptions apiece with Swindall finishing with a team-high and career-best 79 yards in tying his career-high for catches. Natson ended with 34 yards.

The Aggie defense was led by junior LB Zach Vigil and sophomore LB Kyler Fackrell with 11 tackles apiece. Fackrell, who tied his career-high with 11 stops, also registered his fourth sack of the season and seventh of his career. It was Vigil's third double-digit tackle outing of the season and eighth of his career. Vigil also recovered his second fumble of the year and his career.

Utah State's defense entered the game without any interceptions, but left the game with three, as senior S Maurice Alexander, senior CB Nevin Lawson and junior CB Jeremy Morris all snared oskies. It was Lawson's third interception of his career and his second at Spartan Stadium. Alexander and Morris posted their first career interceptions.

San José State was led by David Fales who was 25-of-48 passing for 314 yards, but threw three interceptions and was sacked once. Chandler Jones snared seven passes for 115 yards for the Spartans, while Jason Simpson rushed for 48 yards on 15 carries with one score.

Utah State took the opening kickoff and Keeton guided the charge down the field, resulting in a 3-yard pass to senior TE D.J. Tialavea for a 7-0 lead less than four minutes into the game.

On SJSU's ensuing possession, the Spartans marched down the field in a 15-play drive resulting in a 31-yard field goal with 8:01 left in the quarter to pull within, 7-3.

The Aggies opened up a 14-3 lead later in the quarter after a 5-yard pass from Keeton to junior TE Keegan Andersen. USU's lead grew to 20-3 after a 24 and 45-yard field goal by Diaz.

After a 26-yard field goal by San José State with 5:48 to go in the half, Diaz set a new career-high with his third field goal from 24 yards for a 23-6 USU halftime lead.

The Aggies stretched their lead to 30-6 midway through the third quarter with a 17-yard strike to Swindall. SJSU countered with a 1-yard rush by Simpson, but the Aggies snuffed out the two-point conversion, leaving the score 30-12 with 3:02 left in the third.

Keeton later darted in from 9-yards out to give USU a 37-12 lead with 15 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Diaz capped the scoring with his fourth field goal of the night, this one from 21 yards out with 5:23 on the clock and the Aggies cruised to the win.

GAME 3 RECAP vs. WAKE FOREST
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Redshirt freshman QB Jordan Love passed for a career-high 171 yards and one touchdown in Utah State's 46-10 loss at Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon in front of 27,971 fans at BB&T Field.

Love, who entered the game in the third quarter, completed 6-of-13 passes and threw his first career touchdown, a 77-yarder to sophomore WR Gerold Bright with 10:37 remaining in the quarter -- tied for the 26th longest pass play in school history.

That was Bright's lone catch of the day. Senior WR Ron'quavion Tarver led the Aggies (1-2, 0-0 Mountain West) with five receptions for 35 yards, while junior WR Zach Van Leeuwen added two catches for a career-best 77 yards, including a career-long reception of 64 yards.

Dominik Eberle accounted for Utah State's only other points on a 30-yard field goal with 53 seconds left in the third. The sophomore placekicker is now a perfect 4-for-4 on the season in field goal attempts.

Wake Forest QB John Wolford was 12-of-22 for 242 yards and two touchdowns as the Demon Deacons (3-0, 1-0 ACC) scored the first 36 points of the game. Arkeem Byrd led the ground attack for the hosts, amassing 120 yards and one touchdown on just 19 carries.

As a team, Wake Forest produced 588 yards of total offense -- 297 through the air and 291 on the ground.

For the second consecutive week, the Aggies blocked a punt. This time, junior QB DJ Nelson was credited with the block in the fourth quarter. It proved to be the 12th blocked kick under fifth-year head coach Matt Wells.

Aaron Dalton also had a nice day on special teams for the Aggies. The junior punter tied his career high with four punts downed inside the 20-yard line. He punted nine times on the day and had a long of 54 yards. Furthermore, sophomore DE Jacoby Wildman rushed for 11 yards on a second quarter fake punt, picking up the first down for Utah State. Wildman also recorded a career-high four tackles on defense.

Senior Kent Myers started the game at quarterback and completed 9-of-23 passes for 54 yards and one interception. As a team, the Aggies recorded 267 yards of total offense, including just 42 yards on the ground as junior RB Eltoro Allen had a season-best 13 carries for 20 yards.

Defensively, junior BS Gaje Ferguson led the Aggies with a season-high 10 tackles, his third career double-digit tackle game. Senior CB Jalen Davis tied his career high with three pass breakups, including one in the end zone that prevented a touchdown.

Senior BS Dallin Leavitt had a season-high nine tackles, junior LB Suli Tamaivena had a season-high eight tackles and junior NG Gasetoto Schuster added a career-high six tackles and his first career forced fumble. Junior DE Adewale Adeoye added a career-best five stops as six different Aggie defenders posted a career-high in tackles on the day.

As a team, Utah State recorded seven tackles for loss, including a season-high 1.5 by junior LB Ofa Latu. He also tallied six tackles on the afternoon.

LOVE SEES FIRST EXTENDED PLAYING TIME IN WAKE FOREST GAME
• Redshirt freshman QB Jordan Love saw his first extended playing time last weekend at Wake Forest and completed 6-of-13 passes for 171 yards and one touchdown on a 77-yard completion to sophomore WR Gerold Bright, which is tied for the 26th-longest pass play in school history. Love also completed a 64-yard pass to junior WR Zach Van Leeuwen, in what are the two-longest plays from scrimmage for USU this season.

DEFENSIVE NOTABLES FROM THE WAKE FOREST GAME
• Junior BS Gaje Ferguson had a season-high 10 tackles, including 0.5 tackles for loss, last weekend at Wake Forest for his third career double-digit tackle outing. Ferguson now has 2.5 career tackles for loss. Senior BS Dallin Leavitt had a season-high nine tackles. Junior LB Suli Tamaivena had a season-high eight tackles. FIRST TIME PLAYERS ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE FOR UTAH STATE
• All five of Utah State's starting offensive linemen -- OC Quin Ficklin, RT Sean Taylor, LG Moroni Iniguez, RG Rob Castaneda, LT Roman Andrus -- played in their first career games at USU in the first three weeks of the season. In fact, Taylor is the only member of this group who was on the team last year, as he redshirted. This is the first time in school history that it has started five offensive linemen who had never played a game at USU, minus the Aggies' first-ever team in 1892. Furthermore, Andrus and Ficklin did not even play offensive line at their previous schools, as Andrus was a defensive end at Snow (Utah) JC and Ficklin was a fullback at BYU.

MYERS RANKS 22ND ALL-TIME IN RUSHING
• Senior QB Kent Myers has rushed for 1,215 yards on 275 carries (4.4 ypc) during his career to rank 22nd all-time in school history, including third all-time among quarterbacks, trailing Chuckie Keeton (2011-15), who ranks 14th all-time with 1,415 yards and Diondre Borel (2007-10), who ranks 16th all-time with 1,398 rushing yards. Myers has one career 100-yard rushing game as he set a school record for quarterbacks with 191 yards on 16 carries against Colorado State as a sophomore in 2015.

MYERS HAS 16 CAREER RUSHING TDs
• Senior QB Kent Myers has 16 rushing touchdowns in his career, which are the most on the team. Overall, Myers is just one rushing touchdown shy of entering the career top 10 in school history.

HUNT RANKS 27TH ALL-TIME IN RUSHING
• Senior RB LaJuan Hunt has rushed for 1,101 yards on 286 carries (3.8 ypc) to rank 27th all-time in school history in career rushing yards. Hunt has one 100-yard rushing game in his career as he set a true freshman school record with 34 carries for 145 yards against Hawai'i in 2014.

LINDSEY JR. CLOSING IN ON 1,000 CAREER RUSHING YARDS
• Senior RB Tonny Lindsey Jr. led Utah State in rushing in 2016 as he gained 763 yards on 148 carries (5.2 ypc) and tied for the team lead with six rushing touchdowns. For his career, Lindsey, Jr. has carried the ball 166 times for 884 yards (5.3 ypc) with six touchdowns and is just 116 yards shy of becoming the 31st player in school history to rush for 1,000 yards. In his career, Lindsey has two 100-yard rushing games, which includes a career-high 168 yards at Nevada in 2016 on 21 carries, one of two career games where he has carried the ball 20-plus times.

• With Lindsey returning for the 2017 season, marks the third-straight season that Utah State returns its leading rusher from the previous year as Devante Mays rushed for 966 yards in 2015 and LaJuan Hunt rushed for 540 yards in 2014.

• Senior QB Kent Myers is 469-of-769 (.610) passing for 5,444 yards with 33 touchdowns and 19 interceptions in his career, and that completion percentage ranks third all-time in school history behind Darell Garretson (.631) and Chuckie Keeton (.629).

• For his career, Myers has an interception percentage of just 0.025, which ranks third all-time in school history behind Chuckie Keeton (.022) and Anthony Calvillo (0.23), with his 33 touchdowns and 19 interceptions on 769 career attempts. Myers has thrown at least one touchdown in 17 of his last 23 games and multiple touchdowns seven times in his career, which includes five games with three or more touchdown passes.

AGGIES IN OVERTIME
• Utah State is 6-5 all-time in overtime, winning three of its last four. All-time, USU is 4-2 in single-overtime games, 2-2 in double-overtime games, and 0-1 in triple-overtime games. USU's last overtime game was a 21-14 loss at Arkansas State on Sept. 20, 2014.

• Tyler Larsen (OL - Carolina Panthers) - Larsen is in his second season with the Panthers and fourth year in the NFL. In Carolina's 9-3 win against the Buffalo Bills, Larsen started at center and played in all 68 offensive and three special teams snaps.

• Nevin Lawson (CB - Detroit Lions) - Lawson is in his fourth season in the NFL with the Lions. The Lions will face the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.

• Devante Mays (RB - Green Bay Packers) - Mays is in his first season in the NFL with the Packers. Mays did not play in Green Bay's 34-23 loss against the Atlanta Falcons.

• Donald Penn (OT - Oakland Raiders) - Penn is in his fourth year with the Raiders and 12th year in the NFL. In Oakland's 45-20 win against the New York Jets, Penn started at left tackle and played in all 57 offensive snaps as the Raiders didn't allow a sack.

• Patrick Scales (LS - Chicago Bears) - Scales is in his third year with the Bears and seventh year in the NFL. He is currently on injured reserve.

• Hunter Sharp (WR - Denver Broncos) - Vigil is in his first year in the NFL with the Broncos. He is currenlty on the practice squad.

• Robert Turbin (RB - Indianapolis Colts) - Turbin is in his second year with the Colts and sixth year in the NFL. In the Colts' 16-13 overtime loss against the Arizona Cardinals, Turbin had three rushes for 11 yards and one reception for eight yards as he picked up three third-down conversions. Turbin played in 28 offensive and 19 special teams snaps.

• Nick Vigil (LB - Cincinnati Bengals) - Vigil is in his second year in the NFL with the Bengals. In the Bengals' 13-9 loss against the Houston Texans, Vigil started at linebacker and had five tackles, three of which were solo, and one pass defended. Vigil played in all 66 defensive and eight special teams snaps.

• Zach Vigil (LB - Buffalo Bills) - Vigil is in his first year with the Bills and third year in the NFL. He is currenlty on the practice squad.

• Bobby Wagner (LB - Seattle Seahawks) - Wagner is in his sixth year in the NFL with the Seahawks. In Seattle's 12-9 win against the San Francisco 49ers, Wagner started at linebacker and had seven tackles, four of which were solo, an interception that he returned for seven yards and a pass defended while playing in all 49 defensive snaps and three special teams snaps.

• Kerwynn Williams (RB - Arizona Cardinals) - Williams is in his fourth year with the Cardinals and his fifth year in the NFL. In the Cardinals' 16-13 overtime win against the Indianapolis Colts, Williams started his first-career game at running back and had nine rushes for 22 yards. Williams also returned two kickoffs for 35 yards and one punt for six yards. Williams played in 18 offensive and 12 special teams snaps.

HEAD COACH Matt Wells
• Matt Wells has wasted little time putting his stamp on the Aggie football program in his first five seasons as head coach, as USU is 29-27, including a 19-13 Mountain West record. USU also played in its fifth-straight bowl game in 2015.

• In his four-plus years as head coach, Wells has led Utah State to three wins against top 25 opponents, one more than USU had overall prior to his tenure.

• During the 2015 season, Wells mentored 12 players who earned all-Mountain West honors, which were the third-most in the conference. Wells also coached Kyler Fackrell, who was named a fourth-team All-American by Phil Steele.

• Wells coached three players who participated in the 2016 NFL Combine in Fackrell, Hunter Sharp and Nick Vigil, while 10 players from the 2015 roster were invited to NFL camps, including Vigil (Cincinnati Bengals) and Fackrell (Green Bay Packers), who were both selected in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

• Wells led Utah State to 10 wins in 2014 to rank as the second-most in school history behind the 2012 team that finished with an 11-2 record, including its third-straight bowl win with a 21-6 victory against UTEP in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl.

• During the 2014 season, Wells mentored 15 players who earned 16 all-Mountain West honors, which were the most in the league and tied for the third-most in school history. Wells also coached two All-Americans as Zach Vigil was named a second-team All-American by USA Today Sports, while Jalen Davis was named a True Freshman All-American by 247Sports. Vigil was also named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year.

• Wells was named the 2013 Mountain West Coach of the Year as he set the school record for wins by a first-year head coach as the Aggies went 9-5.

• Wells led Utah State to the inaugural Mountain West Championship game after winning the Mountain Division with a 7-1 record in 2013. He also led USU to just its third-ever bowl victory as it posted a 21-14 win against No. 24 Northern Illinois in the 2013 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.

• During his first year as USU's head coach, Wells mentored 14 Aggies who earned various all-Mountain West honors, including three All-Americans as Tyler Larsen was named a second-team All-American by USA Today Sports, Nevin Lawson was named a third-team All-American by College Sports Madness, and Kyler Fackrell was named an honorable mention Sophomore All-American by College Football News.

• Wells coached a school-record four players who participated in the 2014 NFL Combine in Larsen, Lawson, Maurice Alexander and D.J. Tialavea, while 11 players from the 2013 roster were invited to NFL camps, including Alexander (Los Angeles Rams) and Lawson (Detroit Lions), who were both selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

• Overall, Wells is the second USU coach and fifth in school history to garner conference coach of the year honors along with Bruce Snyder (1978), Chuck Shelton (1991), John L. Smith (1997) and Gary Andersen (2012). Wells is also the fourth individual to earn MW Coach of the Year honors in his first season, along with BYU's Gary Crowton (2001), Utah's Urban Meyer (2003) and Air Force's Troy Calhoun (2007).

• Wells is one of just 19 FBS coaches to lead his alma mater and is just the second Utah State graduate to be appointed its head football coach, joining Chris Pella, who graduated from USU in 1965 and coached the Aggies from 1983-85.

• Prior to being named the head coach at his alma mater, Wells spent the previous two seasons as an assistant at Utah State, including serving as the team's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2012. In 2011, Wells coached USU's quarterbacks and was the team's recruiting coordinator.

• During his six years at Utah State, Wells has been part of a USU program that played in five straight bowl games for the first time in school history, and won three-straight bowl games for the first time ever.

• As offensive coordinator in 2012, Utah State concluded its most successful season in program history with a school-best 11-2 record. USU also won its first outright conference championship since 1936.
