FRANK "BUSS" WILLIAMS

Frank "Buss" Williams earned eight varsity letters at Utah State in football, wrestling, and track in 1942 and then 1946-48. Williams, who earned all-conference honors as a senior, played in the 1946 Raisin Bowl and 1947 Grape Bowl game. The Kanesville, Utah native finished sixth in the discus at the NCAA Championships in 1947. He finished second in three events in the 1948 AAU nationals – 56 pound weight throw. discus and shot put. Williams was undefeated during his two years of wrestling competition. He spent two years in the NFL, playing for the New York giants in 1948 and the Green Bay Packers in 1949. Williams returned to Utah State in 1960 ass the freshman football, wrestling and baseball coach. He was named USU's athletic director in 1964 and served in that capacity for nearly 10 years.
Williams passed away on June 6, 1999 at the age of 77.
