A terrific lineman and backfield player, LaVell Edwards earned all-Mountain States Conference honors in 1950 as a linebacker. Edwards, a three-year letterwinner at Utah State, was named to USU's All-Century team in 1993 and was inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame the same year. Following his collegiate career, Edwards served as Brigham Young's head football coach from 1972-2000.
Edwards passed away on Dec. 29, 2016 at the age of 86.
