Mark Enyeart was a four-time all-American in track from 1974-77. The Vernal, Utah native came to Utah State as a sprinter, but when asked by coach Ralph Maughan to run the 800 meters, the freshman responded by setting a stadium record his first time out at BYU. Enyeart won the NCAA indoor and outdoor titles in the 800 in 1975. He also upset world record-holder Rick Wohlhuter in the 1975 AAU Nationals in Eugene, Oregon, and set the world indoor record for the 600 meters at the Mondo International Track and Field Meet in Quebec, Canada. Enyeart represented the United States in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. He closed out his senior year by again, winning the 800 meters at the NCAA Championships.Â
