Al Smith was a standout linebacker on the Aggie football team from 1984-86, earning honorable mention All-America honors in both 1985 and 1986. He was named to the school's all-century team in 1993 and was drafted by the Houston Oilers, where he played for 10 seasons, earning Pro Bowl honors in 1991 and 1992. His finished his career with 327 tackles, while his 166 tackles as a senior were the third-most in a season by an Aggie. Smith, who is from Los Angeles, Calif., earned all-conference honors twice and was the Pacific Coast Defensive Player of the Year in 1986.
