MARY LOU RAMM FLIPPEN
Sport: Softball
Years: 1981-83

Mary Lou Ram Flippen was an outstanding pitcher who led the Utah State softball team to national championships in 1980 and 1981, the only back-to-back national titles in school history. She earned AIAW All-American honors in 1981 after winning a Utah State single-season record 27 games. Flippen also owns the school's single-season records for earned run average (0.32) and shutouts (19), and ranks second in complete games (35) and strikeouts (217). She ranks as USU's career record holder for complete games (101), wins (78), ERA (0.70), shutouts (44) and strikeouts (589). Flippen is the only woman to have her jersey retired at Utah State. She was a member of the Olympic Sports Festival softball teams in 1986, 1989 and 1991 and helped the USA capture the gold medal in 1990.
