Elaine Roque transferred from UCLA to Utah State in 1979 and established herself as perhaps the greatest volleyball player in school history. Roque, who earned first-team All-America honors as a senior, helped the Aggies attain the nation’s No. 1 ranking during the 1979 season. She was named Sportswoman of the Year in 1990 and 1992. In addition, Roque twice has been voted Best Blocker on the WPVA Tour (1991 and 1993). She ranked fourth in World Beach Volleyball in 1994. Roque and her partner Gail Castro also ranked third on the 1994 WPVA Tour. She represented the United States in the 1994 World Series Tournament in Puerto Rico.Â
